I came across a photo today taken by Chicago Tribune photographer Ken Tanaka on The Online Photographer blog and thought it was too good not to share.
When the violent storms came through the midwest about a month ago, he came away with this gem of the Chicago skyline. (Once clicking on the link to the picture, I suggest selecting the "Dim the lights" option on the pop-up bar on the left side of the photo).
I'm a big fan of cityscapes to begin with, but I feel like there are many things working in this picture that make it dynamic. To me, the thing that puts it over the top is the color from the headlights on the cars sitting in traffic. That touch of red really does it.
In just over 6 hours, 50 prints of this photo sold out at $155 a pop.
