The Tour de France

I've come to realize that a great source of images relating to current events is Boston.com's "The Big Picture" blog. Their recent collection of photos from the Tour de France proves to be no exception.

I've watched bits and pieces of this year's Tour and have been really amused to see how some of these photos have been taken. The photographers ride ahead of the pack on the back of a motorcycle. I've got to think that takes a lot of communication and coordination between the driver and photographer.

Highlights:
1 - There's just so much color in this picture.
4 - This one made me laugh ... a very good composition.
20 - The contrast, combined with the shallow depth of field, really makes this photo pop.
25 - A really funny juxtaposition.

And the following photos show how at times cycling can be a contact sport...
11 - Ouch
13 - It looks like the cyclist had been crying blood.
15 - I missed this on first glance, but if you look at the side of the motorcycle, there's quite a bit of blood.
22 - "When cyclists go crazy"
