After hitting the road before even the sun was up (see picture below for the time), I arrived here in Destin, Florida some 12 hours after leaving Houston. When you consider we had 3 kids under the age of 10 traveling with us, it's easy to see how a 10 hour trip became 12.
Thankfully, all of the driving paid off, because it is absolutely beautiful here.
Pictures to come in tomorrow's blog....
For now, I'd like to add little description about Steve to give him a little character.
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, Steve has been working at Oliver Brothers Transmission for just over 2 years. While he has grown up knowing and loving cars, his previous job had him working in construction. Having moved to Waco to be closer to his girlfriend, he said he was very happy with his current job and with the way the Oliver family takes care of their employees.
(This kind of chemistry can be seen in picture 5, where manager Sunny Oliver (left) and Steve (right) enjoy a light-hearted moment.)
After completing the installation of the new transmission on the Dodge truck, Steve said something I thought was worth mentioning here, just to add a little character.
"When I get done with every car, I like to go back and check everything twice, just to be sure," Steve said. "I treat every car like it was my grandma's car."
It's comments like this that demonstrated to me the passion Steve has in what he does.
Until tomorrow...
